History

The second horse David bought was called Nailcote Lady, daughter of Llanarth Rosina. Nailcote Lady was taken to Ty'rcapel Comet, (whose pedigree included Tyhen Comet, Pentre Eiddwen Comet, Tyhen Mattie, Mathrafal, Parc Welsh Flyer, Honyton Michael ap Braint, Parc Lady, Llanarth Braint, Meiarth King Flyer, Brenin Gwallia and many more). Coed Newydd Comet was the result of the mating. Coed Newydd Comet won the WPCS (Welsh Pony and Cob Society) Stallion Premium at Lampeter three times. Most of the cobs at our stud, trace back to him.

Later, we bought a beautiful big black mare, 15.1 hands, Babiog Black Beauty (by Llanarth Lloyd George and by Llanarth True Briton and out of Tynged Rosina, who is out of Llanarth Meredith Ap Braint). Lots of the stock of the stud trace back to Babiog Black Beauty. Her daughter, Coed Newydd Eclipse, who is our top breeding mare is out of her. She has won many supreme championships and medals.

Coed Newydd Cobs have been influencial in other Studs, such as Coed Newydd Eldorado who has been senior sire at Crumpwell Stud for many years and his stock have sold well in sales. Coed Newydd High Expectations was broken to saddle at Courtway Stud and has been very sucessful. Coed Newydd Kalypso is doing well in the show ring, he came second in Lampeter this year, 2015. We have sold him as we have had no time, unfortunately, to do him justice due to our age, to Ian Manning of Goodwick.
